The Rhythm of Job: The Book of Job Paraphrased and in Meter is a unique book relating the timeless story of Job.  Paralleling the King James Version of the book of Job on the right side, then on the left McFadden’s poetic adaptation without changing the meaning of Scripture, the author has created a fascinating side-by-side way to read the book of Job.

Job is one of the oldest books in the Bible and teaches some very unique lessons, most predominately asking poignant questions, in that: why does a loving God allow such suffering?  There is much to be gleaned from the book of Job.  This book provides an easy-to-read style cross-reference that honors the original sanctity of the King James Version, thus giving an easier understanding still using a King James prose.

Scripture relates Job’s plight, as he loses everything in his life to include his wealth, children and then his health.  Readers will be able to gain insight into the Word of God by reading the text as they discover and seek answers to questions that all of humanity struggle with. . . where is God?  Why did He allow Satan to rob from Job?  Insight is gained through conversations with his family, friends and conversation with the Almighty and Satan.  In the end, we find that Job is received double back – of all that he lost.

This enlightening story reveals that God can be trusted and there is hope; circumstances can change, friends are unreliable and judgmental and it is God that one must depend upon.  The story of Job (in the end) shows that God is faithful and merciful.

In reading the book, the author has used his talents as a poet to include life-lessons learned throughout the journey of Job.  He has not done anything to “add” to the book of Job, but presents a unique way of honoring the original text while providing insight with use of adaptation.  Highly recommended for those King James fans out there and those who want to read the actual text of the Bible alongside an accurate representation of each verse that provides understanding.
