For the Joy Set Before Us: Insights Into the Missionary
Journey by Erica Fye is written to help inspire, equip and encourage anyone
who feels they are called to the missionary field. Erika poignantly shares her
own conversion to belief in Jesus at the tender age of 8.Her story will inspire
readers as they see the work that God began in her life at a very young age.
With a pure heart, the author gives wisdom on the
motivations for being a missionary; in that, being a missionary should begin
with love and devotion to God – anything beyond that will not last. In her
desire to know Jesus, and tell others about Jesus, a wonderful, exciting and
sometimes sorrowful story unfolds as she shares her personal experiences in
Uganda, sharing Jesus amongst the dust, bugs, and heat. This book boldly
proclaims that everything else pales in comparison.
With such chapters as: Our Motivation, Called, Equipped,
Commissioned, Counting the Cost, Broken, Broken to be Made Holy, Culture Shock
– Moving Between Two Worlds, Spiritual Warfare, The Path of Loneliness,
Struggling Just to Breathe, Our Reward and How Can I be Saved, the
author shares scriptural insights that will help readers understand the calling
of the Great Commission. This Great
Commission is one that all Christians are called to and must share – to spread
the Good News. This is the most
important thing as the author shares an encouraging Biblical perspective that will stir the spirit within and help
one remember the priorities that we sometimes forget here in the USA. Well written and to the point, and a highly
recommended and worthy read!
