Does God Want You to be Happy? A Christian Perspective on
Obstacles to Joy by Robert W. Boyd III is a fantastic directive to finding
God’s answer to the common problems and obstacles to joy that we all face. From
fear to poverty, shame, greed, loss and grief, the author gives sound Biblical
advice for those that seek answers from a godly perspective. In light of these
many subjects, the author has included most of which at sometime or another, we
will all experience. This life is not without problems, trials and
tribulations, but the Word gives us answers as to how to cope with such
calamities in life. One will find that God has the answer for them and
surprisingly, your answer may not be what God would have you do. Within that,
the author has given Christians keys to Biblical living that will enrich,
empower and bring joy in Christ.
Beginning with a summation of major Biblical characters such
as David, Paul, John, some of the major and minor prophets, to include some of
the Disciples and writers of the New Testament, the author brings insight into
the Old and New Testament that prepares readers to journey through Scripture.
Readers will discover facts they may not have known. While this work is not
comprehensive in nature, the book is meant to give healthy advice to help
others make correct choices from a Biblical perspective and to give them hope
for their future in Christ. Intertwined with Scripture, readers will find
comfort in standing in God’s Word.
As such, this book comes highly recommended as a gift to new
Christians or to struggling Christians that have endured life’s afflictions to
give them hope and comfort they so need in Christ. I would highly recommend giving this book along with a Bible to
those that have experienced difficult circumstances and are grieving and are in
need of not only salvation, but also direction with their circumstances. This is a well-written and thoroughly
researched work that is worth the purchase.
