Heart of a Psalmist: Worshiping Christ Through the Psalms by Mike Herron presents a devotional-style overview of each Psalm. One hundred and fifty in all, each commentary brings sound Biblical insight and interpretation that took the author 7 years to culminate. This is such a wonderful book to dig deep and broaden one’s faith.

Offering comfort, hope, faith, protection, security, provision, deliverance and so much more… Each writing can also include helpful definitions, explanations, and the cultural context, to include insight from the author and time period. This is a great way to enlighten the heart of one’s understanding and to become closer to God. By reading through and worshiping  with the Psalms readers will gain incredible knowledge and understanding of the Word of God, His ways, His character and His care to His children.

Beginning with Psalm 1, the author gives a full overview of the difference between walking in the counsel of God versus walking down the slippery path  that leads to destruction. Those who desire to know more about God and His Word might consider reading this book as a way to worship, or even enter into worship. Everyone can relate to the Psalms, but by reading this book one will gain much insight into what the text actually means and relates. Most Psalms are written by King David, yet the author has gone the extra mile in making sure each commentary is correct and accurate.

If you have ever wanted a way to read the Psalms, this might be a way to consider. And who doesn’t love and appreciate the Psalms!

This book speaks for itself and stands on its own. The author presents a way to instill  truth into daily worship and devotional-style reading into one convenient book. Certainly, the Holy Spirit tugging on his heart as to the urgency in writing this book will bring rewards on Earth and in Heaven.

I cannot recommend this book enough!  All would want to add this beautiful work to their library.
