Gillian’s Heart by B.J. Basset blends a beach side novella overlooking the Pacific Ocean intertwining the issues of love and the heart. Elements of acceptance and rejection bring a suspense of new and budding romance. Gillian soon finds herself on a journey of romance and spiritual discovery. Her many fears and past trust issues have left her wondering if it is possible to find real love.

Young Gillian knows all too well childhood rejection and abandonment from her alcoholic parents. After having been brought up by her grandmother, the memory of her traumatic childhood behind her, Gillian finds herself in charge of her grandmother’s house after her passing. Realizing the house in dire need of repair, Gillian hires help in the form of Dusty.

Dusty at first represents all that she cannot stand. Slowly, an intertwining of events come forth and Gillian finds herself in the position to witness to Dusty.

This book speaks on issues of the heart such as forgiveness, rejection and trust, revealing that what Gillian needed was to find new found hope through Christ first. In this redemptive love story, the author reflects the love of Jesus Christ and His redeeming love as Gillian witnesses Dusty, her example of what it is to love like Christ.

With a flair for descriptive scenes and the intertwining of Scripture, the author gives a wonderful journey of the heart into a new life with Gillian. Gillian’s Heart is one of those summer romances with a blending of tensions that give the readers a fast-paced novel that one will not want to put down!

This also comes as a highly recommended read for those that desire clean romance with a Christian-based theme! As such, this book comes highly recommended for young girls looking to find their own identity, overcome anxiety, and anorexia, leading readers to finding their identity as a child of God. ~ A wonderful book that is very well-done!
